Niger state for long has suffered poor Administration in terms of formal education in the state. To combat this, the government of the state is taking drastic measures by providing scholarship opportunities for indigenous students who do not have enough fees to study to help them further their education.

Apart from the federal and non-federal/private scholarships which are granted to Niger state indigenes, the state government through the ministry of education is offering scholarship programs to all interested eligible students who have shown a willingness and meet up with all the criteria of the scholarship award.

Students from Niger state and are ready to study in any tertiary institution within the state are those that will be offered this scholarship. Aside from that, all scholarship beneficiaries are students who are admitted to any tertiary institution within the state either public or private. Such students must be studying in Niger state and will be offering all the courses tenable in higher institutions within the state.

Scholarship Type

The Niger State government scholarship program is an undergraduate one offered to all students of the listed institutions. The scholarship is paid in form of a bursary (in a lump sum) after individuals have passed all the criteria successfully.

Eligibility and Requirements

To qualify for the 2021 Niger State government Scholarship Award Scheme, applicants must;

  • You must be a bonafide indigene of Niger State
  • You must have at least 5 credits your both WASC/GCE/SSCE including English and Maths with any of the three subjects which are relevant to your field of studies
  • You must be admitted into a tertiary institution in Niger state as a full-time student. Part-time students will not be considered
  • You must pass all the application levels and present all the requirements such as the documents

How to Apply for Niger State Government Scholarship Program

Application for this scholarship is not a whole lot of process. Individuals are to scan and submit a couple of documents for the registration which includes the following:

  • State of Origin Certificate
  • JAMB Admission Letter
  • School Admission Letter
  • School ID card or National ID or Driver’s Licence or International passport
  • SSCE results

All documents are to be scanned and uploaded on the website https://www.nigerstate.gov

Deadline of Application

Although the registration has not yet commenced, individuals who are interested in registering for this scholarship scheme are to stay informed of any latest information about it. The registration will close 3 weeks from the time of publishing.
