The government of Kogi state scholarship program is mainly granted to indigenes of Kogi state. Aside from that, all scholarship beneficiaries are students who have sought and been admitted to any tertiary institution within the state either public or private. Such students must be studying in Kogi state and will be offering all the courses tenable in higher institutions in Nigeria. In nitty-gritty, applicants are expected to be studying in any of the following schools before he/she can be allowed to apply for the scholarship program. Federal College of Education Okene, Kogi State Polytechnic, Kogi State University, Salem University, Federal Polytechnic Idah.
The Kogi State government scholarship program is an undergraduate one offered to all students of the listed institutions. The scholarship is paid in form of a bursary (in lump sum) after individuals have passed all the criteria successfully.
Interestingly, the Kogi state government has been doing wonders for its students. Apart from the undergraduate scholarship program for students, the Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Edward Onoja is offering the sum of 500,000 (five hundred thousand nairas) to all first-class graduates of Kogi state no matter your place of studies across Nigeria. In 2021, the Deputy Governor has awarded 10 First Class graduates with the sum of 20million (500,000 each).
Kogi State Government Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements
To qualify for the 2021 Kogi State government Scholarship Award Scheme, applicants must;
- You must be a bonafide indigene of Kogi State
- You must have at least 5 credits your both WASC/GCE/SSCE including English and Maths with any of the three subjects which are relevant to your field of studies
- You must be admitted into a tertiary institution in Kogi state as a full-time student. Part-time students will not be considered
- You must pass all the application levels and present all the requirements such as the documents

Application for this scholarship is not a whole lot of process. Individuals are to scan and submit a couple of documents for the registration which includes the following:
- State of Origin Certificate
- JAMB Admission Letter
- School Admission Letter
- School ID card or National ID or Driver’s Licence or International passport
- SSCE results
